SNL has been on the air since the beginning of time; long before television was even invented. But... is the show good? Depending on who you ask, you'll get drastically different answers. Here's my opinion.
My favorite SNL sketches of the past few years:

    "A New Kyle" ►วีดีโอ.html
"The House with Chris Pine" ►วีดีโอ.html
    "Undercover Office Potty" ►วีดีโอ.html

    This video is so great
As someone who lives in the UK and has never seen SNL, I feel like I was given enough information on both sides to form an opinion but that's the best part
It really isn't that black and white and its so great to see someone be honest and say "I don't know"

The difference is that pre Trump jokes were done at politics as a whole. Now it's all in one direction, and the only "punchline" is "orange man bad".

I stumbled upon a group of folks that are so obsessed and amazed by excel spreadsheets that not only do they spend lots of time on them, they share what they’ve made. It’s kinda really wholesome. Lol This chick shared a story about winning a widely coveted spreadsheet in a game of poker....its as wild as you could imagine:

SNL is an oddity because it’s been on so long. It’s generational now. I realized that this summer. You just start to think it’s universal because it’s been on so long, but the younger kids I’m teaching (aged 19-21, I’m in my 40s) had no idea who caveman lawyer was or toonses the driving cat. I grew up with 80s and 90s SNL. It startled me to see SNL clips from the 00s and 10s say “vintage” on them. I don’t think I have a point, but I think it’s the sheer vastness of time it’s been on that the different eras appeal or resonate to some more. Are the Simpsons like this? It’s also been on forever. I’d be curious to know.
I am biased to my era too, but the 00s-10s were great!

@Lilatkd 336 the worst thing is that my parents where sitting across from me while i was playing Code Vein. The embarrassment and awkwardness was so hideously unbearable, that i found myself squirming in my chair, trying to fathom how the fuck adults managed to write such a disgrace to comedy.

I personally disagree that comedy with an agenda is not comedy. I don't think making people laugh and making people at least re-examine their political beliefs is mutually exclusive, especially considering that for so many people, "being political" is synonymous with "refusing to hide aspects of your personal experience that make me uncomfortable." One of my favorite comedians is Vir Das, an Indian comedian whose first Netflix special edited together clips of him doing the same routine in New Delhi and New York. Yeah, he touched on politics, racism, and homophobia as it exists in America and India. It's still great special though. He is both clear in his points but also self-aware of his own shortcomings, as well as bringing new material to the table. I think the issue with SNL's current brand of politicized comedy is not only that it clearly comes from a place of animosity, but it isn't saying anything we don't already know--yeah, Trump is a racist, sexist man-baby. We've been dealing with it for four years. Reminding us doesn't do anything but fuel your little feud.

SNL would be great if they made content that went beyond political nods. Or if they at least acknowledged the bubble they live in instead of projecting from it. That's what used to make SNL so funny. SNL now is what SNL sketches used to make fun of.

I'm going to say 90% of the entire series is really fucking bad.
I've seen recent episodes, I've seen old episodes including a few considered the best ones of them all, I've seen episodes with John Mulaney and Will Ferrell....
And all of them make me feel like I'm being stabbed in whatever organ my sense of humor is stored in

I think saying Trump doesn't like being made fun of is kinda weird. He had a comedy central roast, (I believe was on SNL at one point), at not to mention was on WWE. Definitely a butt-hurt baby about SNL, but you could argue that he doesn't like the vendetta against him, versus them making jokes in good faith.

I definitely had my fav era - the days of Sandler, Farley, and Myers. But I'm at least able to say that a big part of it was the stage of my life at the time. I was 12-14, staying up late on Saturday to watch the show was the thing to I'm in my 30s and don't really feel like it.

I also think that humor in general has gone downhill these days, because of political correctness and Trump Derangement etc, so I'm not in the mood to check it out.

You did list a lot of big actors on it in the 2000s though, and I wasn't aware of a lot of them. I bet it's not nearly as bad as I'd been hearing.

In my opinion I think the last 4-5 years have been not too good do to the jokes against trump. Like almost every other sketch is political or they always open with something political. We get it, no one really likes him and it’s easy to make fun of home but it’s a bit overkill to have 75% of the show about politics. Just my opinion tho🤷‍♀️

Its completely fine to be political, bash politicians, but if you increasingly bash just one side, while either being really soft on the other or not bashing it at all, then it simply comes off as propaganda disguised as comedy.

I heard somewhere that when Lorne Michaels is asked about what era was best, he says that people generally find the show peaked when they were in high school regardless of when that was.
